Friends of ours moved to Devon last year onto a small holding, they sent us their latest produce to try, their own homemade butter. Wow what a lovely taste, makes me wonder what we've been eating all these years if a couple of simple ingredients can make such beautiful tasting butter.
I get the cream from the reduced counter, don't throw the buttermilk away, use it to make quick and easy Irish Soda Bread and then put your butter on your bread.
I often put some fresh herbs from the garden in the butter as well, yummy.
I live next to a dairy farm...they used to give me the unsold cream on its last sell by day.
I made loads of butter and froze it.
Sadly for me they don't produce milk any more, they raise beef cattle and sheep.
I love hot buttered toast but it doesn't taste the way it used to, but then nothing does, it seems.
Might try a more expensive one next time - instead of the common or garden stuff.
Cherish the taste, Julie.

Butter is butter...it is churned cream, nothing added other than a little salt.
It doesn't matter how much you pay for it it's exactly the same
