Orgreave

Those were desperate days, police brutality and corruption was rife, under the orchestration of the then Thatcher government.
Arthur Scargill was in my opinion a good man serving his membership and trying to preserve their jobs and giving his blood in the process.
There should be a public inquiry and those senior policemen and government ministers involved should be named and shamed.
This was a disgraceful episode in our history and attracted international condemnation at the time.

There could be only one outcome and the Government know that.
It would be akin to 'Watergate'

Re: Orgreave

There were faults in both sides but if this decision is allowed to stand it will look like the government were in cahoots with the police and are protecting themselves.

The police not only were in cahoots but were under the direct influence of the government.

Which of course they were, and still are.

I agree but if they think making a decision like this will protect them they are very wrong.

Re: Orgreave

There comes a time to draw a line under the past, some will never accept their share of the blame whatever the process. This is now over 30 years ago, if the Labour government never thought it important enough to set up an enquiry after 13 years in power, what has now changed other than the embittered finding a way of beating the new government with a spiteful stick?
