Raffle

The 10 year old daughter of my friend in Texas is a member of a soft ball team. To raise money for new team outfits they are holding a raffle. The prizes are as follows:

1st prize: Shotgun. Over and under 12 gauge shotgun.

2nd prize: Rifle: Browning X-bolt hunter 270 calibre.

3rd prize: Pistol: Springfield XDM 9mm Bi-tone.

I donīt know what anyone else thinks, but I think itīs absolutely dreadful to have guns for raffle prizes, especially when the raffle is to raise money for such young children.

Re: Raffle

What, I have never heard anything like it.

Would certainly not buy a raffle ticket that gave guns away as raffle prizes. What are they thinking. Do they check to see if the person who wins has a gun licence. Or am I being naïve.

Well it is Texas Shirley, gun crazy state. I told my friend I think itīs dreadful and asked her if it was actually legal to raffle guns. Evidently it is and she really doesnīt see a problem with it. I think itīs dreadful.

It says it all, America's love affair with guns, is CRAZY! You can even buy them in the Walmart supermarket, I believe! If that moron, Trump, gets in even babies will be issued with them!

Re: Raffle

Doesn't seem quite sane really they have so many problems with firearms you'd imagine they would be more careful who they allowed have them. Do they have no rules about who buys a gun at all ?

In the early 90s, when our eldest was training to be a primary school teacher, she was offered a trainee teacher exchange with an American trainee. This was in a rural part of New York state. One of the school rules was that the pupils didn't bring their guns into school. Ye gods these were young kids!
