Perth, Australia

Our athlete friends are currently in Perth for the athletics, and enjoying it very much. They do have one complaint though, they can't find any cafes open after 4 p.m and they don't want to eat in expensive restaurants every evening.
Is this normal all over Australia or only Perth?

That late? So what do they do between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m bedtime?

Second thoughts, don't answer that

They shut up shop and go to bed early because they get up at the crack of sparrow fart, or silly o'clock

You could be right, our friends tell us that they have to be out running at 8 a.m. This is what our friends mailed us today:

"They seem to be very early to bed early to rise out here. Their parkruns start at 8 a.m or earlier. It's light by 4:30/5 a.m and dark by 7 ish and they seem to follow the pattern of the daylight, which is a good thing in one way,,but not when you want a cuppa or a meal later in the day."

It just seems odd that itīs so difficult to find somewhere for a cuppa in a city, especially when they have a big athletics event going on.

Surely there are heaps of clubs in WA? That's where I go for a cheap but good meal (and the odd ale to wash it down).
