Had a strange call on my mobile today

The bloke, who sounded Indian, asked how I was getting on with my network provider which is 02. I said ok. Then he went on to ask how often do I top up, and then said my sim card wasn't registered to me, and would I give him my name.

It is registered to me.

I don't take kindly to unsolicted calls, so I hung up and switched my phone off.

Over cautious perhaps, but with all the scams going round better to err on the safe side.

Just done a search and it's listed as

Number reported by users as possible solicitors. Not
the legal kind.

Re: Had a strange call on my mobile today

I never receive calls on my mobile phone, thank goodness! I sometimes forget to take it with me when I go out, which is silly, because I have it for emergencies. We have no mobile phone signal at home on any network.

The best thing for those type of calls is to hang up straight away.

I agree. We get few nuisance calls on our landline because we are ex-directory, but when one does come in, I hang up immediately.

That's where I would have put my nice head away. I would have grilled him - then WHO is my phone registered to? What's your name and your company's name? Do you have a telephone number I can call you back on? Then when I had got enough info out of him I'd say I am going to report him!

With hindsight, yes I should have done.

I'll remember that if it happens again.
