Re: Nasturtions

They look great ... mine are still romping along too. Can't beat them for a nice splash of colour this late in the season can you.

I like the veined leaves in yours. I shall have to try some of them, go wild and buy a packet next year, as like you I collect the seed.

They're lovely, Eliza, I might try growing them in the ground next year, I've only ever grown them in baskets and they always get ruined by greenfly.

Re: Nasturtions

Snap! Last year mine were devoured by caterpillars ...loads of them. Don't laugh, but when they'd munched one plant bare I moved them to the next bushy one so they didn't go hungry.
This year ... not a single caterpillar in sight. though it has meant I've had nicer, bushier plants for longer.

They say you shouldn't feed them but I do as my soils that poor and a caked clay that they're straggly pygmy sized specimens otherwise.

Lovely plants though .... cheap and cheerful.

Re: Nasturtions

Hi

I also grow them, but use them as salad vegetables or for dressing a plate.

They are delicious.

Noooooo ... def peppery in taste but OMG blackfly were a big problem here and I refuse to use pesticides so have not grown them for years.

Maybe next year I'll have another go. They remind me of my childhood and I love the smell.
