Moon

I decided to set myself a challange. I wanted to see how well I could capture a photo of the moon which was about 45% off vertical in the sky at about 10pm tonight. previously I used a 2400mm lens (eyesight is around 35 mm to give some idea).

This time I tried with my Nikon D800 camera and an 80-400mm lens at the 400mm range only using a monopod With a little editing this is what I got

Re: Moon

TU both. I did have a huge lens but sold it some time ago.

It was really too big and didn't stay rock solid in length had too much movement in the joint.

So with the gear just used 35mega pixel camera does allow a lot of cropping in a photo without too much lost in detail.

Just had some advise from another forum so may try that next time

Re: Moon

Nice, I got a good one last month but the photo comes out enormous. I managed to reduce it but the forum doesn't like the changes.

Re: Moon

I keep saying to myself that I should have a go, so maybe very soon when conditions are suitable.

Re: Moon

Great picture realspeed, I'm envious. Always wanted to do that but never had the equipment. I understand that my telescope can have a camera attached but never looked into it (No pun intended).
