Re: Inspirational woman
'Auntie' Myra Gallienne is my unsung heroine. She was employed by father who ran a very successful horticultural business. When I was two in 1952 I was outside walking up our long drive to look at a horse and cart parked beside one of our fields, which my father rented out to a farmer and his wife. They were both on the cart about to go home, I believe, when a low flying aircraft spooked the horse and it bolted in my direction. Auntie Myra (4' 8" in height), hearing the commotion as she was packing tomatoes in the packing shed, ran towards me and the bolting horse, picked me up and ran towards the house. We both fell through the backdoor as my mother opened it just as the horse and cart passed us with inches to spare. It was stopped by a high granite wall at the end of the drive.Re: Inspirational woman
