Duvets

We have had duvets since we were first married in 1969, when given one as a wedding present. There is no way in a million years I would ever wish to revert to the old style bedding with blankets etc. We buy new duvets about twice a year, we have synthetic fibre ones as I appear to be allergic to the ones filled with feathers, which make my eyes water these days.

I was wondering how many people still use the old style of bedding?

Re: Duvets

Bit of both here, some of us like duvets and some prefer blankets and one he knows who he is likes both !

Must say I prefer blankets and sheets, so much easier to keep clean and change the bed.

Re: Duvets

I would imagine that some of the ex-army guys on here still prefer the old sheets and blankets and like to tuck in the corners army style. I do think the old style looked neater and I really don't enjoy the changing of the cover ceremony.
Strange to think also that we use to cover our pillows with the bed spread, now we have hundreds of the damned things on display.

Re: Duvets

It's sheets & blankets at our house.
Tony hates duvets - says they make him too hot - then he throws it off and is too cold.
With blankets you can just take off as much as you need.

I give in to him on this as I'm not fussed what we have to cover us so long as we're comfy.

Re: Duvets

We have single duvets (and a king-sized) bed, as I like to be cool at nights, and MOH likes things much warmer!

I currently have a 2-tog duvet and will go up to 4.5 in the winter. And he has just gone up to a 10-tog, but will probably swap it for a 13-tog before Christmas.

It really works as we don't disturb each other in the night like we used to.

Re: Duvets

We have king size duvets, currently using the 4.5 tog one and will change to 10.5 tog when it gets colder.

I don't think I would ever go back to blankets again

Dumped all the blankets I had left, had a clear out, at the tip a few days ago, no one at animal rescue places wanted them.

I have a bit of both, a microfiber duvet which is as light as a feather and cotton sheets. This means when it is hot I can remove the duvet and just have a sheet .

My bedding is one of my obsessions, after all I spend a third of my life in my bed and it has to be just right
