We were warned about them years ago when our boys took to removing them from watches, it's terrifying kids are still doing it with such horrific results.

To little kids they look like sweeties. When wet or damp they heat up and corrode very quickly. Also they a fitted into lots of toys these days.

Doesn't the law require all children's toys to have the battery cover to be fixed with a screw?

I would have thought that children eating batteries was the fault of the parent.

The trouble is and yes it was my fault when you have a small child on your lap in a queue or waiting situation you often give them something to play with, in my case it was my watch, I couldn't get the back off but kids found it easy. Once they did it the first time it became a bit of a race to get to anything with a battery before they did.

Re: Warning ,Button Batteries

In one of the cases I saw on TV, the little girl swallowed the battery from some bathroom scales.

Someone please explain why she was left alone long enough to do that. What was her mother doing while she was allowed to roam around the bathroom on her own?

I saw a little girl go past my window yesterday, probably about 3 years old. There was a gap of at least 30 seconds before the mother went past - on her phone.
