What a day.....and night
Itīs certainly been "one of those days". My Finnish friend hasnīt been feeling too well the past 3 weeks, she thought it was a stomach upset, but, then her feet swelled up, the next day her legs swelled a little, they hurt to walk and she kept getting breathless. I eventually persuaded her to see the doctor, so yesterday afternoon we made an appointment for today. I should add that my friend is so thin she looks anorexic, in fact she makes an anorexic look fat.
The doctor examined her and wanted to send her to hospital immediately by ambulance, but she said no because we had gone in her car and she needed to take that home and sort out her dog. We went straight home, I took her dog and Mr Clumsy drove her straight to the hospital.
At 9 p.m. she telephoned and said they were keeping her in for further tests tomorrow, the tests already done show problems with her heart. At that point she was still in the observation ward. At 9.30 the hospital phoned me to tell me that Eivor was now in her own room, No.19.
I was just about to contact her family in Finland and Sweden when her daughter called me from Finland. Pia had been trying to contact her mother all day, she normally talks to her about 10 times a day, and she was in a panic because she couldnīt get hold of her mum.
I gave Pia the hospital number and room number and she did manage to have a few words with her mother. Then between us we contacted Eivorīs 2 sons and her brother. The brother will let Eivorīs mother know when we know more about what is happening, her mother is 90 and they donīt want to worry her unnecessarily.
Whilst all this was going on we had unexpected visitors, just to add to the chaos. Itīs certainly been "one of those days".
Tomorrow I will go to the hospital and hopefully we will know what is happening so that I can update the family and take it from there. Iīm hoping itīs going to good news, by that I mean Iīm hoping it isnīt going to be really bad news.
