Re: Parking ticket flutter.
Coincidentally, I have just been watching (a recording of) a programme about parking fines.
One young lady contested a fine imposed on her. She had paid for a parking ticket and displayed it in her windscreen, as required. Unfortunately, it had fallen down on to the seat and, of course, the car park attendant had issued a ticket for failure to display.
Now, having witnessed very many selfish drivers parking where they shouldn't and causing an obstruction, I am usually in favour of parking attendants issuing fines.
However, on this occasion (and others like it) I feel that the fine should have been waived, especially as the 'offender' had the ticket (with date and time, of course) as proof that she had paid to park there.
I'm afraid that her appeal was rejected on 'bureaucratic grounds'. In other words, whilst the appeal official agreed with her she was 'bound by the rules' to refuse her appeal.
Rules should be changed where they favour bureaucracy rather than practicality.
