Nhs

Its unbelievable ,well almost. A friend's stomach has blown up very large and she has had a bit of bowel trouble. On my advice she went to her A&E last night, they were shocked at her condition and said its serious , but before they can do anything she must have a scan, Fine ,but she has had to go back to her own G.P to get a referal for a hospital scan, he too is shocked at her condition and put her down as urgent but it could be Thursday / Friday before a scan can be arranged.

Re: Nhs

Obviously not overly worried otherwise she'd be admitted, surely?

Shows you how much I know about the NHS ... I always thought if you went to A&E they could treat you without a GP referral.

As per.
Surely, if they thought it so serious they'd not dare send her home?

My mum's last admition saw her X-rayed and a CT scan within 2 hours of arrival and that was at 4am.

Re: Nhs

It was late evening when my friend went to A&E so guess certain clinics were not open, she said the Dr in A&E was very nice and told her her problem was serious and she need a scan ASP, but it had to come from her G.P, but if things got worse or she started being sick go back to A&E.She saw her GP. this morning and he has faxed the Hospital for her to have a scan A S P ,and the Hospital will phone her, so she just has to wait and see
