Obese Patients Face Surgery Ban

This is an excellent idea IMO and should have happened years ago
If people can't look after their own bodies, they shouldn't expect others to look after it for them.

The start of the whittling down of who gets free treatment on the NHS, whether they've already paid for it or not. Who's next - smokers, drinkers, self-harmers of any description, own fault accident victims, careless drivers? At least we elders are fairly safe. Most of us actually vote for the bastards who are robbing us blind.

Re: Obese Patients Face Surgery Ban

Looks like the ban applies to smokers too ... even thin smokers.

I'm straddled with a foot in both camps here.
I can't argue with it. Makes sense in a way and is fairer to people who've tried to look after themselves. Both smokers and fatties should know better and take some responsibility for their own bodies.
But ...
If I'm to be penalised so should drinkers .. so should druggies .. so should anyone who suffers a sports injury .. and if we're into self-harming shouldn't attempted suicides just be hoisted straight out of the ambulance and wheeled down to the morgue as the biggest offenders.

Snap! I see we think pretty much alike.

I wouldn't say the elderly are safer though. Old age and it's unavoidable associated ailments will probably be a sin soon.

Great! Penalise those who have probably contributed to the NHS, yet those that deliberately come here from abroad to get free treatment or surgery are welcomed with open arms!

Art, when you put it like that ... it's a shame we can't all burn our medical records, burn our passports ..leg it out of the Chunnel and turn around and cling to the bottom of the HGV to get back in.

I believe if we play our cards right and advertise to foreigners that there is now a 5 day window with no queuing, they might all roll up around the 12th of September. And again in October, November and December.

You have all forgotten those who don't practice safe sex, they could save some money on the drugs for those people too.

What about a fat health tourist? Now there's a conundrum for them.
