21 Again!

After seeing Rhian's thread on her son's 21st, it made me think back to what I was doing when I was 21.

Did you folks celebrate your 21st or your 18th?

Call me a miserable sow and sow but I never bothered much with either of them ... I was more chuffed to be 16, leave school and be able to go and get a job and earn some pennies.

Well if you are miserable Morty, you are not alone.
I can't remember doing anything wild on my 18th, and on my 21st I had to be careful as I was 9 months pregnant. My son was born New Years Eve.

Re: 21 Again!

I'm probably wrong here ..
But it seems to me a lot of young un's haven't actually gone out and braved the world at 18 or 21 anymore. Aren't most of them still living with mum and dad still snug in the nest of family creature comforts.

I matured fast ... I aged fast too but never mind.

If you were having a nipper at 21 you'd be the same .. celebration would take second place I imagine. Other more important things to organise and plan for.

Re: 21 Again!

For my 21st, I remember going out with my two sisters to a local night spot where a duet were playing!
The last thing on my mind at that time, was marriage and children!! I just lived for the good times!!

Re: 21 Again!

I got married at 21 and my wife was 18 so we both celebrated in the way any newlyweds would. Nine months later our first son was born. We both enjoyed our birthday presents to each other very much I might add.

Re: 21 Again!

It was 21 for me, and i celebrated it with my flatmates at the venue of the disco my mate ran, it was a great night and everyone was buying me drinks which were put into pint glasses. Not beer i might add, but Bacardi and Coke which i did not drink normally.

I cant remember how i got home, but i can remember the next 3 days being a living nightmare. Only the second time i had been drunk, and in fact the last time as well.
