A very brave man, he was given the last rites after his crash and returned to racing far too soon, to try and win the championship, he was in a race in heavy rain and decided to retire as he thought it was too dangerous to continue, the team asked him if they should say there was a problem with the car, but he said no and to tell the press he decided to retire and there was nothing wrong with the car, I wonder if any of today's f1 drivers would do that
