Sports people just used to do Sport, nothing more, nothing less, now it seems, they have do endless press conferences, the news is full of them, does Talking about Sport really matter?

It helps to fill the void between actual sports events.....

You can talk about what might happen, what you think will happen then what did happen and all the time replay what you have already seen.....

How else are Sky and the rest to fill all their sports channels?

There is a lot of what the TV people call 'Dead Air' in all televised sports which must be filled, so they do indeed pay ex-sportsmen vast sums to fill this dead air with chatter, some are good like the golf man Peter Allis but most are just boring boring boring.

i thought all sports persons used to have jobs,sport was done after work.

I mean, what if say, Geoff Hurst, didn't want to talk about it, he could adopt the position, I am a sportsman, not a talker.
