Fuming, failed credit check.
I have a mobile contract with Virgin and have been with them for 4 years.My present contract ends in less than a month so thought I'd renew and upgrade my phone to an iPhone 6.
So this morning I spoke to them and to my horror I was refused because I failed the credit check.
So I went online for a free credit report from Experian and just received it.
What did I find...a perfect credit history that I knew I had? NO
Two missed mortgage payments to Cheltenham & Gloucester.
How very annoying.....I paid it off over 2 months ago.
Phone calls in the morning to express my anger and disgust.

never done anything on credit. If we can't afford it we don't have it.As you missed 2 payment you have defaulted on your mortgage therefore got a bad credit score which stays with you.
A mortgage now ended only many years ago without missing a payment

even though you paid it off ..
Hope you can move on and get your phone
Edit to say try purchasing something on Credit and see if it happens again , if it dont then you need to build your credit rating up again , by buy a few low cost items on credit .
