Wolf Whistles

They were having a phone in on telly this morning about men who wolf whistle the ladies. They asked if it should be considered a Crime!

I was amazed to hear one lady say she finds it very intimidating and the police should be called!
She said they wouldn't do it if their wives were there, and they do in a 'gang' to show off in front of their mates and it's intimidating.

Another lady said the opposite. She just turns round, smiles at the blokes and calls out "thanks boys" and walks on.

What do the gents and ladies both think on here?
Have any of you gents done any whistling at the ladies, and what was the response?

Re: Wolf Whistles

I think when I was younger I bristled a bit when whistled at, not a dog I used to mutter, as I aged and it stopped I was hopeful next generation would realise not all women like it and the men and women who do it might grow up and stop.

It can be intimidating, some women are not out there wanting to be noticed, it doesn't always stop at a whistle either, and further comments are intimidating.

However it's not a crime and not something a person should be arrested for, it's a social faux pas really.

It's banned on all the sites I work on and, if you guilty of this crime, you're sacked.

Re: Wolf Whistles

These discussions make me so angry. Why aren't these stupid people targetting real crimes and intimidating acts?

Wow. That sounds draconian.
What happens to the chaps who just leer at female bypassers?
Do they get their eyes gouged out with a screwdriver.

That's good to hear, I always think they would hate if their mums or sisters or daughters had to run the gauntlet so why do it to other women.

Re: Wolf Whistles

But a wolf whistle can do wonders for the ego. It's a sign of appreciation.
I've whistled at one or two chaps in days gone by. Shameless hussy that I am ..was. Was. I'm cured now.

So much depends on the woman morti, I admire you for feeling that way but it can make others feel bad and I think they should be protected.

It's written into your 'contract of employment'

I don't know how most women feel about it but, if I were wolf whistled by a woman, apart from viewing it as a miracle, I'd tell everyone I knew and the ones I don't.
