The six-week holiday (as it was called), along with the fortnight at Christmas and the fortnight at Easter, not forgetting the weeks off at half-terms (that comes to 13 weeks by my reckoning) are primarily for...

Ah, but watch out. Our wonderful government has a habit of moving the goalposts just when you've prepared an excellent curriculum.
