Automatic

Had a conversation on here a couple of years ago about the merits of Automatic versus Manual cars. It is no secret, I dislike Auto's, for their complexity, and lack of options when they go wrong, well, my daughter bought one as a learner car, a low mileage (53000) example, that developed a fault, went to the garage yesterday, apparently the "Actuator" is faulty, cost of the part £1000.00 pounds, that's the end of that Barry.

Re: Automatic

My little car is automatic, it's brilliant, very old and has had very little go wrong....
Hope I haven't spoken too soon!

Re: Automatic

I've never had an automatic, never fancied one somehow.

Re: Automatic

No I haven't ever owned one but my friend had one, I imagine it's like driving a dodgem on the fair. I like the manual ones changing gear keeps you alert.

Re: Automatic

Been driving automatics since I passed my test at 19 had various go wrong over the years but never to do with them being automatics, usually water pumps, breaks, etc oh and one rather dramatic engine fell out moment but even that wasn't down to the automatic status.

Re: Automatic

Easy to tell if the car in front is an automatic or not, just watch how many times the brake lights come on when unnecessary on a manual car.

Never liked automatics. I actually enjoy changing gear - it's part of driving.
