My Village Was Cut Off!

We had terrific storms today, when they stopped I went looking for my cat Gypsy who had run off and not returned for tea.
I was shocked to find homes flooded, roads cut off, reports of landslides and cars overturned. The village had been completely cut off. Other people were out with their cameras and chatting, offering to help those who had problems!
It's supposed to rain again tonight, I always thought I'd be OK halfway up a hill but the roads in and out of the village are low down so easy to get cut off!
Gypsy was home wanting her tea by the time I got back.
I'd taken a letter with me to post but, I'm not at all sure the postman will be able to get to the postbox to empty it!

Re: My Village Was Cut Off!

We've had some dreadful flooding where I live Tess. Really torrential rains

The stream opposite, usually so tranquil, was absolutely raging by the other day.

Today though, just a tiny drizzle.

I really feel for folk that have been flooded. I'd not want to set foot in my house again if it happened to me

There does seem to be more damaging rain of late , what you would expect in the winter months not in summer .

At least the locals can test their webbed feet

On a serious note: hope you are ok and dry.

We had the same, last week, it's a real worry.

Stay safe.

Re: My Village Was Cut Off!

Our "river" is usually a babbling brook, I've only seen it flood once before but never like this! One family had just put in new carpets and all ruined. The farmer had to ferry people out of the farm cafe in his 4x4, a BMW was overturned. I expect there will be a gathering at the church hall tomorrow to see who needs help. The other worry is sink holes, we're built on top of mines here.

Re: My Village Was Cut Off!

Similar to you, I cannot remember floods like it.
This was last week.
I hope we don't see flooding like we did in 2000(?)

How awful TessA, I´m glad your cat returned home though.
