Labour Supporters Clueless About Party Stance On EU

Nearly half of the "Looney Left" Labour voters haven't realised the party wants to remain in the EU !

"Just 55% of Labour voters know most of its MPs back Remain - and 9% even think the party backs Brexit"

Re: Labour Supporters Clueless About Party Stance On EU

One gets the feeling that Labour would actually love to push the Brexit campaign but since (imo) the real powers that be want to Stay In the EU, Labour are imo having to cow tow. It's an untenable position where they have to stand side by side with the Tories yet not be seen to be supporting the same ideals. If they don't support the "Stay In" campaign (and thus the ruling elite) one assumes that they would have no chance at all of ever winning the next General Election.

"Jeremy Corbyn has never been an enthusiast for the EU. He voted against EEC membership in the 1975 referendum, the Maastricht Treaty in 1993 and the Lisbon Treaty in 2008. For decades, he stood in the left sovereignist tradition exemplified by Tony Benn. As recently as last summer, during the Labour leadership contest, he told the New Statesman that he had not “closed his mind” to EU withdrawal."

You couldn't really ask for a bigger indicator that party politics means diddly squat and that neither Labour nor Tories actually run anything. They are simply the volunteering puppets of the corrupt elite and will say and do anything for the money and perks.

I just said in your other thread it seems they are allowing a free vote, nothing wrong with that.

That's just a cop out Julie imo. The party as a whole should be one and stand for either Brexit or Stay In. Naturally given past stances on Brussels they should all be supporting Brexit imo. Greed however and the lust for power and position leads people to act in bad ways.

Hi

Hardly surprising seeing as their leader is not for anything, just against most things.

Well he has been repeatedly against Brussels in the past, odd then that he should now be supporting the Stay In campaign . . .

I don't see the referendum as a party matter, people from all sides are coming together both for in and out. It's simply not a left or right question for anyone with a brain.

I can't believe that they have George Brown speaking out for staying .
(I have always quite fancied GB )
Where is Corbyn ?
Keeping low key ?
What can he say ?
Labour has betrayed its traditional support base -the working man by importing thousands of immigrants to compete with him for jobs ,schools doctors the whole caboodle .
Ok for the champagne socialists or middle class luvvies .
And Jeremy wants to let in more !
Didn't they ever stop to think that by their policies of multiculturalism they have cut off the working class at the knees .
At the same time they have destroyed the Labour Party .
Who in their right mind will vote for Labour now?

Whilst that may be true, it doesn't alter the fact that Corbyn has always been against Brussels and now suddenly he's in the Stay In camp. Just smacks of the overall corruption that is inherent in the way the country is really run. Corbyn, imo, is simply doing what he has been told to do by the true ruling power. People need to see it for what it is. Party politics is a smoke screen to give the Sheeple the illusion of choice.
