I wouldn't want to be young in this day. It's just so materialistic .

Re: Glad I Lived When I Did

Not really, in most respects my three grandchildren have better childhood than I had.
I spent some of my childhood cold and hungry, I wouldn't want to go back there...

They spend half their life in wellingtons out in the countryside,
The three littles with a friend

Last week in a stream...

The school they are luck enough to attend has 'woodland school' once a week where they play in mud, build huts and sit around a camp fire ...

I don't think children could have a better life

You prefer the austerity of Britain in the 40s and 50s to today?

You must be mad. (Though I am not quite comparing like with like as my grandkids are growing up in Australia)

The whole point is that as children we did not know any different. It was austere to our parents maybe, not us and we enjoyed ourselves mostly outside all day.

Re: Glad I Lived When I Did

But if the technology existed back then, would we have done anything different?
