Can I remain I after we become we?

Is it a battle to remain an individual, or is it easier to be assimilated.

It depends whether you're pliable or willing to conform.
You have to be careful though, sometimes you get moulded and merged without realising, you need to check yourself now and then!
Also, watch what they put in your tea!

If you mean when you are in relationship, then it is important to remain the individual you are, imo.

My husband and I are very different people, having nothing in common apart from our family, and that is how it has always been, which is fine by us.

I am part of a' we' for a lot of the time but I'm an 'I' quite often too.

Very happy with the way things are.
