Are Social Websites Ant-Social?

Mrs Fox says I don't talk to her anymore, she says that I spend morning noon and night talking to you guys on here.
Is she right?

Re: Are Social Websites Ant-Social?

Once had a friend that kept racing pigeons, his wife threatened to divorce him if he did not get rid of them as he spent more time with them than with her. He did but took up keeping tropical fish instead, result was the same if not worse.

I think we have many ways of locking ourselves into our pursuits or hobbies and becoming tunnel visioned.

They can be I often read out bits and pieces for my husband to laugh at or wonder what some people are on so it becomes a social occasion.

True.
If we are absorbed in something we enjoy, it is easy to get a little remiss about other things.

MR Mud has made a few choice comments on this too.
I think they are anti social in one way but in another for people who can't get out and socialise they are a way of socialising .

Yes, Foxy, she is right!!
When my two daughters lived with me, they said l cared more about people on forums than them!
If l swore blind they hadn't told me something, they would say it was because l was too busy typing away on forums... then they would do an imitation of me that made me laugh so much!!

I post on forums so I can state my POV, not to make 'friends'. I wouldn't trust anyone whom I have only met in cyber-space.

Re: Are Social Websites Ant-Social?

I suppose it depends if you are an ant or not but it is good to hear that insects have their own social media.
