Once had a friend that kept racing pigeons, his wife threatened to divorce him if he did not get rid of them as he spent more time with them than with her. He did but took up keeping tropical fish instead, result was the same if not worse.I think we have many ways of locking ourselves into our pursuits or hobbies and becoming tunnel visioned.
so it becomes a social occasion.

If we are absorbed in something we enjoy, it is easy to get a little remiss about other things.

I think they are anti social in one way but in another for people who can't get out and socialise they are a way of socialising .

When my two daughters lived with me, they said l cared more about people on forums than them!
If l swore blind they hadn't told me something, they would say it was because l was too busy typing away on forums... then they would do an imitation of me that made me laugh so much!!
