Inlaws or outlaws

Do those of you, with children who are married or have partners, socialise with their inlaws?
I've never met my eldest daughter's partner's parents, they live overseas so don't really get the chance.
Middle daughter's mother- in-law lives near them but, drives me nuts. Her ex and partner live a long way away and I only met them at the wedding.
My parents didn't socialise with my in laws or my sisters.
Is this the usual way things go?

Things don't always unfold as you expect, this is your problem, no one else's, this can cause divisions, as long as others realize this, all should be OK, in the end, it often takes two parties, to see both sides of the coin.

I don't have a problem with it, I'm not interested in encouraging visitors or visits.

We get on well with our youngest daughter's in-laws who live near us. Our middle daughter's in-laws live at a distance from us, so we rarely see them, but on the occasions we meet up we get on ok.

Re: Inlaws or outlaws

My daughters in laws haven't spoken to her or their son for 8 yrs , not seen the children either . I met them a couple of times , not warm people at all . I have thought in the past to make contact regarding their absence to the children and try to understand why and maybe be a bridge of sorts but too many years have gone by . They have chosen to be absent from their two beautiful grandchildren and their wonderful kind loving son , and at a huge loss in my eyes .

We live far away from everybody.
Mostly, it's lovely!
