Florence Foster Jenkins

just seen this today and thoroughly enjoyed this film - Meryl Streep was excellent in the title role - found the film quite sad and it was based on a true story

What a co-incidence a lady at my seniors' club recommenced this film today except she said it was the funniest film she had seen for ages.

I haven't seen it so I can't comment but interesting that it was such a different perspective (mind you she is from Yorkshire)

Now listen to the 'real' Florence sing and perhaps you will understand why it was regarded as 'funny'.

Re: Florence Foster Jenkins

Yes, we have a CD of that 'wonderful wannabe soprano' (I think, without looking, that it's the one in Welshie's link) and it is most definitely a scream (in both senses of the word)!

I look forward to seeing the film if and when it should ever appear on the telly (I don't patronise the kinema or pay for DVDs).

Didn't you miss out the bit about her being a racist UKIP supporter, Joe?
