Good luck.

Hi Joe and good morning to you.

Which is your favourite subject, food or politics?

Uncle Joe, you are always so sure of yourself on any topic. I know beneath that abrasive exterior there lies a good & kind man.
May I ask you if you share Vera Brittain's observation that the Royals are "expensive, eccentric lunatics"?

Was born in London (within the sound of Bow Bells), so am a 'true' cockney, but at an early age my Father's works moved to Brighton, so have lived a fair portion of my life here.

They are not mutually exclusive, one can be a 'political animal' and still enjoy good food.

Yes I would concur - have been an ardent 'Republican' for many, many years.

Yes both my parents were politically active - my Father was ward Chairman and my Mother Ward Secretary of the local Labour Party. However I learned much more about politics and the 'class struggle from my Grandmother, who was a 'match girl'.

She also knew Annie Bessant:

When I was old enough I joined the Young Communist League and then the sparks flew between my Father and I. On a number of instances 'Dragon' locked us out in the garden whilst we argued 'politics' and 'Trade Unions'.
