Wight Light

Here follows various images of the Isle of Wight, offshore to the south of England. If you have taken piccies in the Wight, then please pop them in. A title or description would help. So here goes.

Quarr Abbey near Ryde. Designed by a Belgian Monk/architect. Two others in Belgium and France.

Re: Wight Light

As i often do when someone puts up a photo of something ive not seen or heard of before i have a google.

In this case it was the impressive brickwork that had my interest as i wanted to know the age of the building.

An interesting site, and impressive structure indeed.

No pictures yet but just want to say I'm on the coach to catch the ferry home from a fantastic weekend on the Isle of Wight ... stayed at Ryde and made good use of the great bus service ... gorgeous weather too

Re: Wight Light

Thanks for your comments folks. Several million bricks were made in Belgium to the architect/monk's specs. Shipped by barge to Wootton Creek. Photographed and was the subject of a recent exhibition in Newport.
Glad you enjoyed yourself Myrtle, pity the weather wasn't better for you.

Re: Wight Light

Thanks for the pics Dobra love to see old buildings.

We are heading out to the Isle of Wight again in June which we thoroughly loved when we where there a few months ago.

Hopefully it will be better weather than last time so we can get out and about.
