Poor Jounalism

Just been reading an article in the Mirror about Ian McKellen and it mentions the fact that he is going deaf. For some reason the reporter mentioned twice that this was his facilities that were declining, should this not be faculties?

I'd call that sloppy copy checking, rather than poor journalism.
We all make typos sometimes - or our PCs/mobile devices stick in predictive text we didn't type.
In this digital age, I don't think journalists get their copy checked by a copy editor in the way they used to.

No doubt that's the problem. A proof reader would have noticed it was the wrong word whereas a computer will just check the spelling.

Re: Poor Jounalism

I don't see that as an excuse, it happened twice in the article.

Love your philosophy Bruv, I spot quite a few on here (probably drop a few in myself) but as long as I can understand what the poster means what the hell....

Whilst that is very true on here, we surely should expect a much higher standard from the professionals.

Yeah, but we're talking about the Mirror here.
