Useless articles..

I purchase a new toothbrush a few day ago and didn't notice until I got it home that there is little plastic pad with spike bits on the opposite side to the bristles .

I am not sure what these little bits are there for but while the bristles were cleaning my teeth the little spikes were removing a layer of skin from the inside of my mouth

Anyone else purchased any 'useless articles' .
