Aid For Libya

It has been announced in todays Daily Express that the Foreign Secretary, Phillip Hammond, has added another £10million to War torn Libya making the total £22million in two years
When Muammar Gaddafi was alive, he was the richest man in the world by controlling the oil wells in Libya.
His assets were worth £200billion from accounts in Banks, Real estate, and Corporate investments for himself and his family
Why can’t that money be used to support War Torn Libya?
All that stolen money belongs to Libya. What has happened to it?

Family, friends, bent bankers and accountants.

It can only be used if it's found and confiscated.

Unfortunately the west orchestrate the demise of tyrants but they fail to ensure the infra-structure remains intact

Hi
Very well said Tpin, Libya is just another example of the mess we cause.

I thought we lived in a democracy, how can we allow our leaders to storm into other countries doing what they think is right when the majority of people can see the folly of their actions.

They just can't help themselves, can they? So easy to do with other people's money.

It wouldn't be quite so bad if we didn't need handouts ourselves, for our national debt, our failing NHS, maintaining the locusts, etc.

Re: Aid For Libya

Since Obama and friends had Gaddafi killed, mainly to control the Oil Wells, the Country is in complete chaos and overrun with terrorists and Isis, who are much worse then Gaddafi.

During his reign he had many good ideas, and modernised the Country, with free education and women were encouraged and allowed to be educated at the Universities.

Unfortunately, it all went to his head and he became a cruel Dictator and syphoned of $billions for himself and family. He has Estates in UK and many Properties in London and other Cities, World Wide.

Obama confiscated $30billion form Libya’s Central Bank! Shouldn’t that go back to Libya?
All that interference has caused the Civil War as well.

Re: Aid For Libya

That's because the infra-structure was left in ruins.

The first aim in war is to take that out.
So it makes sense to rebuild it once power/control has been established.

Like most corrupt dictatorships the corruption runs deep and once the head has been removed there's a vacuum, a struggle for position.

These countries are left in turmoil and the only ones to suffer are the innocent people.

The politicians take us to war and then they should hand it over to the military to conduct it. Taking back the reigns once control has been successfully established.

We always pull out too early.

Ps. The west didn't have him killed, an opportunity arose and he was killed by his own countrymen.

Pps Blaming Obama for the amount of terrorists in Libya since his death is quite wrong. Libya has been a hotbed of terrorist activity for decades, don't forget he sponsored world terrorism and was complicit in British deaths at the hand's of the IRA, so please excuse me if I don't raise a glass to his treatment of women and his 'good ideas', a gent he was not.

Re: Aid For Libya

Then there's this:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...-a6990676.html

Extract: On a visit to Tripoli, the Foreign Secretary, Phillip Hammond, said that because troops would only be acting to train Libyan forces, rather than operating a combat mission, MPs would not be given a vote as they were ahead of recent military action in Iraq and Syria.

Anyone else remember the Americans saying very much the same thing more than seventy years ago when they sent 'advisers' to Vietnam???

Hi

It is because of the system of Government that we have here in the UK.

In Switzerland for example they have frequent Referendums on matters of importance, and the results are legally binding.

We think of ourselves as the home of democracy, however we aren't really that good at it.

We do not have proportional representation for example, so the Government is often a Government voted for by a minority of the voting public.

There are many very successful Countries which do have proportional representation, Coalitions eventually force Politicians to do what is best for the Country as a whole, not, as is often the case here, what is best for themselves and their backers.
