Immigration Centres

The HoL held a vote concerning the detention of pregnant women in detention centres, which according to Home Office existing regulations is illegal anyway.

Although the amendment 'passed' there were significant numbers who voted against.

I wonder how many of them were members of the 'nasty party'???

Probably quite a few I should think, however since the House of Lords has more Labour and Liberal members, (a legacy of Brown stuffing the place full before he was fired by the public), I should think a lot more of those voted that same way.

Re: Immigration Centres

Quite a few I would imagine UJ, the treatment of people in detention is pretty bad here but better than what some of them are running from, doesn't make it right of course.

Hi

First of all UJ it is not illegal, there are merely guidelines to state that they should only be held in exceptional circumstances, that is all.

Secondly, it matters not one jot who voted against the proposal, it makes perfect sense to hold pregnant women in exceptional circumstances, in detention centres, particularly those liable to abscond.

At least in Detention Centres they get constant access to pre natal medical care.

Re: Immigration Centres

Nobody should have voted to allow pregnant women to be detained in these places. Shameful!
Where will they go though?
