make up remover wipes

My silver necklace was on the dressing table and very discoloured and not been cleaned for a while . I had in my hand a make up remover wipe and wiped the silver necklace without really thinking what I was doing until I looked down and the wipe had completely cleaned the necklace as I carried on it brought it up like new .

I'm stunned to think what does it do to my skin , I use them daily !

They could have alcohol or citric acid in them, I have used alcohol (gin or rubbing alcohol is good)or lemon juice to clean jewelry. Don't do it if the jewelry has stones such as opals though and rinse afterwards.
I've used surgical spirit before to clean a sapphire ring.
Don't quote me though! You do it at your own risk!
Jem's the best person to advise you.

Re: make up remover wipes

I've always used soap and water for make up removal, but I thought I'd try some wipes. Just couldn't get on with them!

Gave them to my daughter in the end. You can't beat a bit of soap and water - and don't care what they say about soap and water on your face, sounds like it's much better than wipes, especially if they clean silver!

I have used Ponds Cream Cleanser for many years, I wouldn't dream of using any modern cleansers. They sound as if they are lethal!!
