Re: Socks

OMG socks. I went down to dinner yesterday evening to only then find a hole in one sock above the shoe line. I had packed ready to come home so no chance of a quick change.

Re: Socks

Apricot, These days, we live in a 'Throw Away Society'. I still mend things. I suppose it stems from my days at school where we were taught to mend things in Needlework classes.
I don't like holes in the toes of socks, they really irritate!

Re: Socks

I wear men's socks, as they are the only ones that go up to a size that fits me. When they get holes, they're cheap enough to replace. I usually buy them in packs (Primark, or Morrisons in the past).

Maybe I should learn the art of darning?

So do ours.

We, OH & I, buy those gentle grip socks. We hate circle marks on our legs from the tops of ordinary socks. OH gave all his others to our Son.

Re: Socks

I love darning socks sadly hubby says they are cheap enough to chuck away so they go in the bin before I get my hands on them, only my hand knitted ones get the darning treatment these days he wouldn't dare throw them away without letting me have some fun.
