Thursday thoughts

Hi all - another bright and sunny day and, irony of irony, there is a strong chance of a hose-pipe ban in NW England - the very areas devastated by floods not so long ago The gardens here would certainly appreciate some rain

Safely got the cat starved and boxed and off to get his infected tooth extracted. OH has done the transport and gone off to a meeting, so I assume all went well. Must defrost some fish for his supper (cat not OH)

Allotment, dog walk and scuttle round the house with a duster, as I have visitors overnight tomorrow. One becomes popular living relatively near a ferry port in the summer

Have a good day

Re: Thursday thoughts

Dinasmum and all.

Oh poor cat, hope all goes well as I am sure it will. Won't be very happy with you though, will probably blame you!! Bless.

It's always the same, Scotland gets loads of rain - all the time - yet we get the same notices - conserve water, bans on using hoses! Wonder where all the rain goes!

It rained here last night but nothing to shout about really. Dull and grey outside but no wind!

Hope you and everyone will enjoy Thursday and hope plenty of hangovers after the result yesterday - go, England, go and go onto win the next match!

Take care.

Re: Thursday thoughts

It was actually hot Wednesday with the temperature at 82F. Since I live in a second story studio apartment it doesn't take much to warm it up. I actually ran my small air conditioning unit for a comfortable sleep last night.

My last few days of work have been very strange as the production line is already shut down awaiting the closing of our fab. Just these last three days remain. Nobody has anything to do yet we report in at 7 a.m. and sit around for 12 hours trying not to go stark raving bonkers. I've been slipping out a few hours early each day as it's not my nature to do nothing.

I've taken some measures to tidy up my accounts such as selling the company back my vacation & sick pay, as well as selling all 30 shares of Intel stock that has vested these past 4 years. These two things build a small nest-egg in preparation to unemployment benefits. I'll wind up with $485 a week for the next 10 months until I turn 62 and can draw social security pension benefits. Since I live alone in a tiny flat my needs are simple.

One of my concerns was alleviated yesterday upon coming home. My apartment lease renewal was taped to my door with a note to please sign the form. It appears they've not raised my rent for the next year. That's a great relief as money will certainly be tight after retirement. Housing costs are extremely high in the Pacific Northwest as 80% of Oregon's population lives on just 10% of the land. Most of Oregon is wilderness.

These are the ramblings of a man getting ready for a drastic lifestyle change. I pray that I will enjoy my retirement. It's all rather scary.

Re: Thursday thoughts

Oooh im off to the bank at 1pm. I've made a very silly error and im now at the grovelling stage of sorting it. I took a small personal loan out in 08 £2.200.00 with insurance and 4 months later got layed off.. Not long after I remembered the insurance and did all the paperwork etc but they wont pay as I was payed cash in my job and ive no evidence I worked at all My own fault to a degree but theirs for selling me the policy. Anyway before they will help I have to go into a branch to change my address (which i'd already done from an online print out & posted). Ive chosed a branch where theres a nice coffee shop that do yummy cakes so if the bank are unhelpful I can comiserate over a lemon drizzle lol

Re: Thursday thoughts

Hi all!

Not long home from a dental appointment with my brand new dentist after 30odd years with my last one who has retired. He appears soooo young!!! It was only a check-up today, everything ok and I came away with a sample of Sensodyne toothpaste from him ...... his way of breaking the ice, I suppose!

DM, who has the bad tooth ...Bentley or Chester? I'm sure he'll feel a lot better once the offending tooth is removed.

Enjoy your day all!

It's Chester Mags. he's back home now - 3 teeth lighter! Poor boy. I hope this isn't a bad sign wrt his teeth - he's only just 4. At this rate he'll be toothless by 10
He's OK though - he's taken to his bed in the drawers under our bed. We used to laugh and call him Chester Drawers when he did that when he was a kitten. I guess it's his comfort space

So - you've a dental visit in common today mags - but Chester didn't bring home Sensodyne!

Poor Chester! Hope he'll enjoy his fish dinner.

Still delightfully warm and sunny, 32 C (90 F), but only a 30% chance of rain; am getting distressed at the dryness. Even the grass is suffering. Send rain vibes, please!

No errands so a lie in, a few chores and waiting for the bi-weekly grocery delivery.
