Doctors...a glaring error

For those of you who follow the daytime soap, Doctors, did you spot the glaring error?

For those of you who don't, one of the doctors drove to Switzerland with her new boyfriend and his sick son, to get new treatment for the youngster. In the meantime, her new boss requested a meeting with everybody to discuss the doctor's actions, and she was subsequently sacked.

The doctor returned to the UK, went to the estranged wife of the man, and said, 'you still have time, get to the clinic.'

Now, the wife didn't want the boy to be taken out of the country and had got the police involved, looking for them, so had lodged a complaint.

Then in one scene you see the wife enter the room of the sick son, yes...in Switzerland (!!!), and in the meantime the doctor is given her marching orders, and she says goodbye to her colleagues.

Now. How quickly could one of you organise a flight to Switzerland, transfer to the airport, get on the plane, fly out, find a car or taxi to take you to the clinic, then pop in to see the patient? And in all this time, the doctor is only just leaving the surgery.

Sorry, I don't believe it.

The world of soaps is a mystery to me Jazzi but obviously not to you!
As an ex-BBC employee I still have this thing about what's known as Continuity and it is exactly what you are picking up on now.

Continuity is an art form - keeping abreast from scene to scene with dialogue, costume, time and physical positioning in a TV production or a film is a highly specialised job but obviously, with discerning viewers such as you, it's gone to hell in and handcart!

I don't see this because I'm too busy trying to decipher subtitles for the deaf to be overly concerned about whether the tie the leading man has in Scene 1 suddenly disappears in Scene 2!

Must be frustrating babe and I'm sorry but this is modern, improved, super-efficient entertainment and I couldn't possibly comment further! stevmk2

I also noticed the error although I thought it was me getting confused after nodding off for a few minutes. It seems to me that the whole cast are about to leave Doctors, some already gone. Bring back Mrs Tembe.

Agreed, it does seem the whole cast is changing.

Although if you look at the credits is Lorna Laidlaw aka Mrs Tembe who is directing at the moment..

Yes, Lorna is directing some, as did Owen Brenman (Heston) in the past.

Mrs Tembe is back in it while the practice looks at expanding with her new surgery, so I don't know how frequently she will appear. I wonder, if Jimmi pulls out of being a partner, would Emma take his place with Howards's inheritance? Or do we think Jimmi will still leave?

I watched this years ago when Christopher Timothy was starring as Mac, but I was at work full time and stopped recording it. Now I'm retired I watch every episode and am unhappy when it has a break, especially over Christmas.

I've only just got back into it after a long long break, lots of errors if you ask me, people ring in a garbled message and doctor or nurse trot off and rescue them, doesn't happen like that round here bring back the lovely Mrs Tembe I agree and give her back her job as manager !

Re: Doctors...a glaring error

My GP wouldn't come out to me when I was poorly: kept advising me to call in to the surgery. It was 5 days after that call before I even felt well enough to leave the flat!

So I do get angry with Doctors, yes Julie. I agree with you.

Poor Zaza!!

Malcolm, I had a very bad viral infection, where I was being sick and unable to sleep. I had to go to my local hospital on the Saturday to the GP clinic, and she prescribed sleeping tablets and rehydration sachets. I was still poorly but was desperate for somebody to see me, to decide what was wrong and to help out. I was shattered from lack of sleep, and had suffered for a full week before getting to that appointment. I called the GP on the Monday, (had already suffered since the Saturday, I believe), and it was Friday before I felt able to go out, and to that clinic on Saturday.
