How much ???

Today we felt like some fish and chips instead of cooking ... so we went to the chippy that has been voted the best chippy in the North West for a take away.
Two fish and one portion of chips ... £9.30 I said How much ?
I remember when fish and chips used to be a cheap meal....not any more !!

£5.50 for fish, chips and peas near my house.

When I flew from Manchester I was astonished to see the same as above for £9.00 and a full English breakfast was £12.95.

I find that I don't digest the batter very well, so sometimes buy wet cod and microwave it.

Re: How much ???

Fish has become very expensive now, the misses was just telling me that she was in the butchers the other day and a woman asked for a small piece of Cod, 8.50 euros!, she took it before the misses had time to tell her that there was a Fish Shop just around the corner and she could have got it for half that and it would be fresher too, the shop gets it's Fish straight from the Fishermen of Howth in Dublin Bay.
We would never eat Fish from a chipper, chips yes but never Fish, it can't be trusted once it's been battered and stored.

I think they now fry in Oil and it soaks the paper by the time it gets home ..
My son now ask me to make chips at home .
