Here's One For The Republicans...

In another thread or similar about the royal family, many of you have said, you don't like or want a monarchy.
You want to replace the monarchy? So how would you do it? Kill them? Put them in the tower and throw the key away? Who would you replace them with? The Beckhams?

For the sake of argument, why replace them at all?

(ETA I'm not a republican, nor really bothered about whether or not we have royals)

A democratically elected Prime Minister or President.

The Beckhams? Ugh! The celebrity couple I admire isn't them.

Cailin, l hope it's not Vernon Kay and his wife Tess Daly?!!

Imagine, if there were no royalty, how all their treasures could be sold off and the money given to the poor or for weapons and ships to protect us!

Or we could keep them.
We could also stop sending £billions to other countries and use that on protecting our borders and population.
