An uncomfortable ruling for UK Government???

Seems the UN has sided with Argentina over the rights to exploration of minerals around the Falklands/Malvinas.

Haven't read the article - but by what you have said there, I agree, Argentina should be able to do so

Sorry to be so cynical but one wonders why the
Iron Lady went to war if she and her mates did not know there were rich deposits??

There were those of us more enlightened people, who protested and demonstrated against the wicked witch of the West's cavalier expedition in the South Atlantic at the time.

Of course she knew of the mineral deposits around the Falklands, most people in the UK did ! I believe it would be the fairest thing to do, to share the rights for these minerals between Argentina and UK, with the Falkland Islanders gaining a fair share of the profits !

No no no no! You've got it all wrong. She was protecting the sheep and the loyal British citizens.
(Not to mention being the most unpopular PM we've ever had and an election just around the corner.)

Since the traces deposits were first found only a couple of years ago and the prospecting was started about 10 years ago she must have been clairvoyant. If pushed I might agree the resources should be shared but so should the expense of exploration. As for that useless, money swallowing organization the UN, they should be disbanded.

Rubbish! They knew the terrain was right for mineral deposits, but at the time it was cheaper to get them elsewhere. New technology to confirm the size of the lode and to get at it is now available and the price is right.

Goodness me, that's one more line than you usually post. Be that as it may, it's debatable. The point is if Argentine want to share in the proceeds they they should bear some of the cost, not behave like spoiled brats. After all they started the problem in the first place.
