The Adjustment Bureau
A self definition of ones manhood can be found in the art of a man grabbing at himself. The moves come in the form of adjusting, pulling or a simple stroke just to make sure the package is stll there. Singers these days have a need to pull when they sing. Maybe its gives them confidance on stage or could it be, once again, a simple reflection to the audience of their manhood ?The adjustment move done by most men is done quickly and with the least advertisement as possible. Hopefully with the intent of acting out an action without causing a reaction within the general public.
Yet in some cultures, like those in Italy, adjusting of the package is a way of life. It can denote various meanings. Italians will grab on to their package at certain times or moments to signify good luck, other times, its a simple macho move or again, its all about putting things in their right place.
Truth of the matter is that a judge in Italy was in such a uproar about men constantly grabbing at themselves continuously in public, that a law was implemented, where a police officer had the right to issue a ticket to those he may have spotted doing the move.
So to adjust or not to adjust has always been a question in a man's mind. At the very least though, when no one is looking..
