Not accepting responsibility.

I'm sick of hearing it.
What the heck is going on these days that people have abandoned all sense or feeling of responsibility?

Children caught red handed damaging property and the parents say .'my child wouldnt do that'

But the child was caught red handed !

Dogs allowed off the lead where its not allowed have again bitten my blind 15 yr old dog ...The owner says 'my dog never does that'

But it just did....

The driver who bumped the neighbours car, 'I dont accept that was my fault'

Did a stationary car jump out and hit you?

How can these people deny responsibility?

Is it just me being a GOW or do more people get annoyed by this idea that some folk have that by simply denying the problem the responsibility will go away or land on someone else?

Re: Not accepting responsibility.

Drives you mad doesn't it
Years ago a Mother or Father would have taken a child to a victim and made them apologise - not much chance of that today

Horrid, irresponsible people Cass. Probably people like that weren't taught responsibility as a kid. Too late now, they'll always be nasty snides.

These old dogs get shocked, much like elderly people do, I really hope your oldie is not badly bitten and he recovers well. I'd want to kill 'em if they hurt mine.

Re: Not accepting responsibility.

The odd thing about all this that it has become blame reversal.

It's actually your fault for walking your dog
It's actually your fault for having property that can be damaged
It's actually your fault for owning a car that can be bumped.

Sounds unbelievable, but it is the day and age we live in.

I was actually told that last year when Benny was mauled by an off lead dog.. I was to blame 100%

Its shocking and getting worse by the day.

Re: Not accepting responsibility.

I am afraid it is a decline in human standards and is unlikely to improve. At one time people used to lie to get themselves out of trouble, but they still knew they were in the wrong. They have now perfected those lies to a level where they actually believe it wasn't their fault, even when there is proof that it was.
Children often lied to get themselves out of trouble but, when they hear parents backing their lies, how can we expect them to become responsible adults?

Re: Not accepting responsibility.

All to true sad to say. I hope your dog is okay Cass, horrible thing to happen. Iīm sure all the overdone PC is the reason for many things, parents dare not shout at their kids, mustnīt upset the little darlings in case they get into trouble, canīt give their bottoms a smack any more, canīt ground them for bad behaviour, itīs against their human rights, etc etc. It really is the "blame culture" everyoneīs fault but yours, or theirs.

There was a case here about 4 years ago. A local shopping centre, two floors, escalator, 2 year old running about whilst parents were sat having a drink, not watching the child. Child climbs on escalator rail, falls off, parents tried to sue the owners of the shopping centre, they didnīt win. They were an English family on holiday and obviously thought it was the task of others to watch their children, it couldnīt possibly be their fault the child fell off the rail ! Here it is illegal to walk a dog off lead, do people take any notice? No they donīt. Big signs in English, Spanish, German and sometimes Swedish, it makes no difference, they still have their dogs off lead. Very few people accept responsibility for their actions any more, itīs always the fault of others.
