Craven Lords give up the fight!!!

The Lords gave up the fight to defend the disabled from Osborne's vicious cuts in benefits. Perhaps people will see and recognise that we need a reform of our constitution with the abolition of the House of Lords entirely and its replacement with a directly elected second chamber.

Looks to me like the speaker of the house used his powers to push it through if he hadn't I believe the lords would have refused again.

Yes Julie darlin' - but that is due to our arcane and archaic rules and constitution, which is in desperate need of reform.

There's no point in having a second chamber, stuffed with freeloaders, if they're not even going to use what powers they have for the general good.

Julie, Sonia, that is precisely why I suggested a reform of our arcane procedures. Yes we need a directly elected second chamber, but not, as you suggest with 'freeloaders', but working representatives of their constituents. One significant change could be the ability of the constituents to recall their elected (senator???) at any time, if that (senator???) failed to act in the interests of his/her constituents.

So what are we paying the Lords for, if it's not to counter incompetence and corruption in the HOC? Anyway, it's not Joe who's in the minority here. So who's the 'everybody' you refer to - apart from you?

Hi

What a load of bollocks.

A directly elected Second Chamber would have made no difference at all.

You are assuming that if we had a directly elected second chamber, it would be left wing.

If we had held elections last year for the second chamber, then following from the General Election Results, it would have been a Conservative Second Chamber.

We would most certainly not have elected a Marxist Second Chamber, which is what you want.

More political naivety from Uncle Joe, Swimmers .. I'm surprised you even bother to join in the nonsense.
