Driverless HGV's

Hi

After driverless cars, the UK is to trial driverless HGV's.

I am not entirely sure that this is a good thing.

It might not be so bad IF and thats a big "if" they could limit the speeds of these great big trucks...I think possibly to have them driven automatically might be the safer of options sometimes.,dare I say!

Hi

I can remember Terry Wogan saying that the shortest known period of time is that between a HGV indicating and it pulling out in front of you.

"the plans could result in platoons of up to 10 computer-controlled lorries being driven metres apart from each other"

So, the "platoon" is actually a "train" .....

I don't know but HGV's have been subjected to mandatory speed(60mph) limiters since about 1998

Only the British lorries, all the Europeans have found ways to bypass the 'limiters' and many of the smaller foreign firms do it.
