Household chores

Which chores do you like/dislike most?

I can't say housework thrills me, but it has to be done. As long as the place is reasonable and hygiene standards are maintained, I don't go mad.

Ironing is my least favourite task and I do as little as I can get away with.

When our dishwasher packed up in 2014, I decided to see if I could manage without one. I can wash up in under two minutes (I timed myself), it is less hassle than loading and unloading a dishwasher. Besides which, as there is now only my husband and myself, the dishwasher was put on every three days or so, when it was full enough, which I didn't think was very hygienic.

My eldest grandson made me laugh, he stood over me a few months ago when I was washing up, "Granny, you wash up so quickly, are you really doing it properly?" I told him to check each item for cleanliness, which he did, inspecting each very thoroughly. They passed his inspection!

Re: Household chores

Only thing I dislike is oven cleaning, I can't kneel any more so it's back breaking getting in there thoroughly.

Re: Household chores

Morning T, Morning everyone.

I would say the household chore I dislike most is cleaning the toilet. It's silly really because I am fanatical about it being spotless. I always have two bleach cleansers, one either side of the bowl plus toilet blocks in the cistern. I clean it at least 3 times a week. There's only he who must obey and myself here now but when I go to clean it, anyone would think it hadn't been cleaned for 6 months, marigold gloves, duck toilet cleaner, toilet brush, scrubber. The only thing missing are goggles!!

The chore I like most is when I've finished all the cleaning and I can flutter around spraying Fablon on the curtains and sofa's. It means the kettle's already on the boil for a well earned cuppa!

Re: Household chores

I basically do as little as possible.
Don't think I've cleaned an oven in the last 40 years .
I do clean the bathroom and kitchen but too much bleach is horrendously bad for the enviroment .
And a few germs are good how can one keep up a resistance .
Life is too short to worry about household chores whoever is remembered for their housekeeping abilities ?
