Sad News Today

One of my puppies has failed to thrive and since weaning began last week he has been losing ground. He was x-rayed yesterday and the results sent off to the vet college in Dublin.
He has megaoesophagus.
No cure, no treatment, no future.
However, the vet won't put him down for now as he is not in pain. Yet. He faces increasing discomfort and any day could catch pneumonia if any of my attempts to get liquid into him go wrong and hit the lungs. He's such a happy little chap too, but all I can do is the best I can until it all becomes too much for him.

That's really sad Dalmagirl, I'm really sorry to hear that. It must be awful for you having to cope with the outcome, my heart goes out to you.

Aw so very sorry to hear that, bless the wee puppy! I hope he remains with no discomfort for a long time - where there's life, there's hope!

Good vibes going to him.

Take care.

Re: Sad News Today

Tell me to butt out if you like but if he has an insurable condition which will impair his life, no matter how long it lasts, why won't your vet simply let him slip away now?
Seems unkind to me - to all concerned, yourself included

Re: Sad News Today

Sorry to hear about the puppy's condition Dalmagirl.
We do attatch ourselves to animals just like family members and when things start to go wrong it does effect us badly.

I have to agree with Dinahsmum a bit here. I think you should do everything to make life comfortable for the puppy but just let him slip away peacefully.
One thing that you can be sure of though is that he will live on in your memories.

Re: Sad News Today

I agree not good for puppy to struggle on and you to watch that happen.
So sad.
