Lakeside 11/02/2016
This could well be the last report of my Lakeside visits. Despite the cold the sun was shining and the gales have died down prompting a visit to the lake.
Took the bus down as i cant walk far now, and sat and watched the small East lake.
The Redhead Smew was still there a rare visitor to the UK, not as attractive as the Male smew but still nice to see this rarity.
Very poor record shot which does not do it justice.
The first Great-crested grebe has returned, i hope they are successful this year as all nest attempts failed in 2015.
A few winter special visitors still around, Goosander and Goldeneye soon they will be gone.
I had a good look to see if i could locate the female Scaup among the Tufted ducks, bu it could be back on the sea as the winds have gone.
