Oh to be a child again !

Do you ever just sit and daydream of when you were a child and the treats you had?

I often think back to Friday's when mum had her housekeeping money from dad, as well as her cleaning job money - That was the day she used to go to the newsagents and buy the Bunty, Judy and Jackie for me, the Lion, Tiger, Topper, Dandy, Beano and that week's edition of one of those little war story comic books for my brothers.
Also on that day, Jack the coop van-man would do his grocery rounds and there would be a KitKat and a glass of Corona Cherryade or Dandilion & Burdock for each of us whilst we were reading them. Lovely memories.

Can you remember a wonderful treat you had as a child?

My Mum used to make us cheese on toast and cut it into triangles occasionally and I always thought it was a real treat !!

Didn't have many treats at all in our house

But I do remember occasionally when dad wasn't working we sat watching wrestling with various chocolates to hand that he'd brought home. You weren't allowed to have them near you though, you were given them when he deemed it.

Re: Oh to be a child again !

Actually, thinking a bit more I had two 2nd homes, parents of my two best friends, who felt sorry for me because of our family situation.

On really lovely sunny days one of the families used to take me with them when they went to a huge park quite a drive away. It had deer, lots of bracken and streams. It was heaven. We always had a picnic and ice cream, then after I stayed over for tea.

Lots of laughter and fun. I loved those days, being part of a loving family unit even if it wasn't my own.

We have this in common Pesta - I found a family that I loved and gave me special moments too The best part was having a loving Mum and Dad as I called them

I lived with my Grandparents too for a while, that was a lovely time - it was boxing they favoured with Granddad sitting there doing all the moves in his chair
Sunday was good - Robin Hood and Liberace winking at me
