The universe is vast and surely out there somewhere is an ancient civilization inhabiting a planet. Distance are quite far andelusive, so its a possibiliy we will encounter a civilization in the far distant future. As for now, I can't see why an advanced civilization would be playing hide and seek with us for over 50 years.
I look at it this way, if we were to invest so much money and endless time in intergalactic travel, and one day we made contact, for sure we would be cautious at first, but we would not continue to playing ganes, like writing cryptic nessages in corn fields.Thats not scientific that only offends the intellectuality of any highly advanced society.
Again, there might be a slim possibility that some UFO sighting are real. The vast majority are top secret highly advanced aircraft that the goverment welcomes its classification as " alien " to keep it away from the public eye

One thing is for sure if any poor Alien were to land on this planet or be sighted anywhere near it we would either blast it out of the skies or kill it by papparatzi cover'Prior warning of a visit would not work either. Total overkill which we have become to good at would put it off landing
